Obama and New Atlanta Event 'SoulsKiss' Update

What a great day in the history of our nation. So many reason to celebrate and so many stories to share . I can not wait to hear all of them.

But first let me tell you the story of SoulsKiss!! OMG what an amazing first show , if you missed is all i can say is woo you missed some great live music and outstanding treats . Not only did Nadirah Shakoor perform new music and her international hits but she had dancers during that amazing song 'Live Let Live' . Then Ozara Ode's(who was awesome) background singer John came up and graced the audience with his opera version of 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' and mixed it with ' Motherless Child' . And Kipper Jones was phenomenal he did 3 great songs including his Hidden Beach Records release as well as joined Nadiarh in an impromptu duet . I mean we had live remixing going on. IT WAS AMAZING then to top it all off Ms Dionne Farris was in the audience and blessed us with a song. The girl is still amazing!!!

So woo what a night!!! You just never know who will show up or what will happen when the Soulskiss stage opens up.

We have some amazing artists coming from all across the country to join at SoulsKiss- Chicago , Mississippi , Los Angeles and Ms Gabbie McGee will be representing Atlanta ... we are so excited!!!!

Saturday February 21st is the next show (mark your calendar)and I can't wait to hear your Obama Day stories.

2009 means 2008 is over

It seems that 2008 has left a scar on humanity everywhere as everyone celebrated not so much the coming of '09 but the ending of '08 with so much excitement. 

 

I ponder what were the tears about ,  was it banks closing , jobs leaving or the over exposure of Beyonce that disturbed everyone. I say a bit of both. But from my observation the age of materialism has come to a head and the pimple has popped with nothing left to do but reevaluate , simplify and heal from the huge explosion. One thing I can say is lets not allow Barack to be a band-aid but truly raise our vibration and look up to the real healer God. For what we do not understand is really an exercise in trust and faith. We have had faith and trust in money for so long that life became blurry.. well its sure as shit clear now ain't it .. I bet you told the kids that Christmas is about the Mass of  Christ instead of that new wii that you would have to choose over gas money for the month.  All I can say is lets focus on being thankful for each opportunity to love and keep in our hearts the spirit of generosity and focus on saying hello to people instead of the ATM card. We have many different roads to travel so lets find a new one... 

 

Speaking of roads I am going to need Beyonce to hit it. Wooo she is on over kill riding the Britney train to self destruction. Girl go be married have some kids get fat get addicted to pain pills write that tell all book about your crazy parents and go kiss a girl .. do somethingggggggg your sooooo boring .. snorrrrr.  And Beyonce is not an Icon let me say it again not and i c o n...She is simply and I. I am going to be on every magazine I am going to play interesting characters in the most boring way I am going to come out with an album just after my sister so she will never shine and I am going to not learn how to act no matter the fact that I have enough money to raise Shakespeare from the grave 

Did I say she bores me ...but I am glad she is getting better wigs cause Sasha ain't really the fierce

YOU know I love this election .. listening to the players is a huge hobby thanks to my free cable called youtube . Now I was watching the news and what I have heard has strengthened the reason I boycott Wallymart. Now the powers that be have sat down with their employees to tell them that the democrats will encourage the unions to come in the fold. Now Wally does not want his to happen cause it would cause them to use their billions of profits to treat their workers with respect and pay proper wages and give benefits  but maybe wally thinks that only the bosses deserve that.  So as a result they are strongly recommending that the reppers get their vote . .. No that's the freedom we are all fighting for .. yeee hawwww

Now McCain is so brilliant using that high end education that he recieved  so good that he wants to share it with urban communities.  SO he wants to give vouchers to children to go to better schools.. HOW INSITEFUL .. instead of investing the voucher money into the school systems in their neighbor hoods let us take those millions  and send it to the school systems that do not need it . WoW he is so smart .. those are the smarts that got him fifth from bottom of the class and the same judgement that cause him to cheat on his wife while she was recovering from a tragic car accident with his cheerleading cowgirl current wife .  Now thats family values... Or should I say Britney values.  

Connecting dots in Toronto

I tell you what I was so impressed with Toronto it was such a great experience all around . Clean , friendly and progressive are word the simply define this great city. Amazing .. 

I went to surprise my brother  as he prepared to see a dream come true . He has had a vision of doing a live show that include is artists from his Global Label Yoruba Records.  And boy was it awesome  this show included Nadirah Shakoor,Djinji Brown,  Quetzal Guerrero , Siji, Gabriele Poso, Oveous Maximus, The Yoruba Soul Orchestra and Osunlade. And I tell you it was off the chain . I began with yoruba dancers and drummers and prayers and an invitation for the ancestors to join us i this celebration of life music and love . Wow I believe i could feel them all around.  

But before all of that  the surprise I flew in to Toronto sunday morning early only communicating with Nadirah ( my always partner in crime)  I text her to begin the process because I knew I needed an insider to handle logistics. So the plot was set and the mission began .. Surprise Osunlade... that is difficult cause he is  so connected with many messengers . But to say the least it was completely successful . 

Got the address get the cab and I am on my way to the rehersal space . Way out in the boonys in an industral park where our booking agent houses his business . So I arrive and so excited cause I know I got him .. I walk in with finger over mouth to let people know not to say my name or respond to my entering the space. So I walk in to the room where the gang is eating .. eye of my long not scene friends widen with excitement but my hand again goes over my mouth the Osunlade turns around as he is running his mouth and then quickly turns back around then bout 3 seconds later realizes it is me in the door way looking at him .. He smiles in disbelief ,not that im there ,but that I GOT HIM!!!!  What fun and a perfecting begining to an amazing weekend with the Yoruba Soul Orchestra.

The gang even gave me a little shakey thingy so that  I could join the band. Practice continued and all I can say is wow . Then orchestra from Italy was so impressive cause each artist had 4 songs to perform and the music in not at all simple loops but true compositions and with learning muisc of 7 different diverse artists in 2 days . 

But between practice and the show I had  the perfect opportunity to see the city on my .. tadaaa .. adventure with Nadirah who needed a new look for the show.  Well it took us on house of walking , cabs, subways and busses to get this new look  but on this 4 hour journey I was able to experience the city . Toronto Bravo  for your pleasantness and drive to accept all people and lifestyles . 

The show .. after finally getting dressed I head to Club Mod for the Canada Day Event and what an event it was . As I said it began with the drummers and dancers the follows with Mr. Quetzal on his eletric blue violin. Damn he is sexy!!! and the way he caresses blue blows your mind the girls and some guys are screaming and he begins his set . Which began a beautiful 2 hours of musical magic that include jazz , house , soul interesting, innovative and explosive sounds. Each artist brought their own flavor that deliciously melded into a divine serving if Global Soul. 

Oh what a feeling the Yoruba Soul Orchestra created which followed with DJ sets from Djinji Brown and Osunlade . Then I left the venue went the hotel to grab my luggage pick up Nadirah and head to the airport .   Connecting the dots is how we do what we do baby!!!!!!
